Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California

One of the most important aspects of your trip to California is the program of excursions we have put together to help you get the most from your experience.

We have thought long and hard about the kinds of excursions our students enjoy, and we constantly update and refine this feature of the trip in order to bring you the best. Our goal is to offer you the opportunity to visit many of the famous sights, but at the same time to introduce you to the country’s history, traditions and culture.

We want you to truly live the language and culture. Not to mention have the time of your life!

California Excursions

Our San Francisco trip includes a selection of fantastic fun & cultural excursions. Here are a few…

The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge

Connecting San Francisco with Marin County and the famous Redwood Highway, it is one of the longest single-span suspension bridges ever built.

Not only will we see the bridge and have lots of photo opportunities, we'll also have the thrill of walking across it ourselves!

Chinatown
Chinatown, San Francisco

More Chinese residents live in this "city within a city" than in any other place in the world outside of China.

The main street is lined with tearooms, shops, temples, and theaters.

Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39
Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39

With its picturesque sights the Wharf attracts millions of visitors annually. Along the waterfront are many restaurants, markets, and souvenir shops. Fresh seafood and sourdough bread are favorite buys. Pier 39 is a shop and restaurant complex, surrounded by a large marina filled with sailboats.

There is a central walkway with wonderful shops, live entertainment and restaurants. Sweeping views of the Bay and Telegraph Hill, as well as the sea lions that live there year-round, make it a famous and popular tourist attraction.

Haight Ashbury
Haight Ashbury

Once the centre of the hippie movement, the Haight today is the most bohemian of San Francisco's neighborhoods, filled with vintage clothing and music shops, inexpensive cafés, new and used book stores, and lots of lively young people.

Alcatraz Island
Alcatraz Island

Situated in San Francisco Bay, this is the home of the famous federal penitentiary that once housed such notorious criminals as Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and Robert Stroud, the "Birdman of Alcatraz." Arrive by ferry and enjoy the fascinating audio tour - in English, Spanish, French, or German.

Cable Cars
Cable Cars

Experience a historic cable car ride up and down the almost vertical hills of San Francisco. Cables running under sixty-nine blocks of San Francisco's streets propel the cable cars, which date from 1887.

Berkeley
Berkeley

We'll take a guided tour of the famous University of California at Berkeley and have free time in the student-filled town enjoying the Bohemian atmosphere, shops and cafés that line Telegraph Avenue.
